When was the last time that he bled? A 100,000 years ago? Nabu couldn't remember. But as his blood poured out, he couldn't help but wonder…if he'd not miscalculated the situation.
"What's wrong, Scribe of Destiny? We're just getting started. How come you're already taking Ls? It's not a good look. Better get a grip before I start calling you cupcake." Menaka cracked her neck, eyes shut as she flashed Nabu a taunting smile.
"Menaka di Balmaria. Of all the chosen I've had the pleasure to crush, you are no doubt the most insolent." Nabu stood up. The dazzling light of his divine power erupting as he raised his shield and hammer.
[Denial]
The Winds of Destiny spun and turned like coiling snakes. Nabu's eyes turned glassy. And to Menaka's shock, as she aimed at Nabu, her sword refused to obey—resisting her grip!
Denial. A divine power that enabled deities to prevent mortals and Superior Beings from touching them. Denial was one of the main reasons why even Archfiends would abandon their demon blood to be reborn as Antigods.
Powered by his Inner Flame, Nabu's Denial was especially devious, not even sparing his fellow deities. In the case of deities, however, Nabu could only suppress their weapons. And one at a time.
Still, to take down Menaka, the deity needed no more. His hammer fell with a stream of lightning bolts, rumbling as it crashed into Menaka's face. With no other choice, Menaka dropped Sargon, activating the Third Secret, and sending her kick flying upward as the weight of her leg ballooned to mountainous proportions!
A deafening blast rocked the field. The warring sides reeling left and right as Nabu and Menaka traded flurries of earthshaking blows.
Contorting to the side, Menaka kicked Nabu's knee in, splintering his armor before grabbing his face and smashing his armored skull into the ground! The god's shield came to the rescue, crashing into Menaka's side and sending her flying!
The dragoness landed with a graceful spin. Readjusting her hair before blitzing Nabu with furious kicks.
But here, the pace took a dramatic shift. Menaka who had a slight advantage till now could no longer break through Nabu's guard. Each move blocked and countered nigh instantly!
Four hammers surrounded Menaka, morphing into battle-axes as they whistled towards her neck. The dragoness vanished in a flash of light. Nabu kept pace, catching Menaka right as she landed with a vicious spinning elbow!
Menaka blocked the blow, her ears bleeding as Nabu's ax and shield came crashing from front and back.
"Give Akamana or Vel'Asha Vritra's Armaments, and they could conquer the world in a day. Your daughter's potential is even more extreme. The girl has a serious chance to exceed Vritra at her peak—becoming the Mother Goddess that Vritra failed to become.
Compared to them, you fall a step short. No wonder…your husband could never forget the Queen of the Yaksha." Nabu played with Menaka's mind.
A large gray book appeared above his shoulder, its pages flickering with images of Menaka's past. She stayed stoic. Her eyes fixing Nabu with an odd mix of calm and feral intensity.
The Winds of Destiny gathered in Nabu's palm. But as the deity was about to cast a divine mantra, Menaka's Wrathful God Fire fused with Sargon's dark Inner Flame, becoming a pyretic pillar that lit up the colossal blade as it rammed into Nabu's back and ripped his organs!
Once more, the deity's blood gushed forth. His eyes glazing over as the realization that Menaka's sword had broken his Denial settled.
"I-Impossible!" Nabu snapped. Unable to believe the facts revealed by that colossal sword.
Two tyrant-class flames.
Outside the Greater Principles, only Vritra possessed two tyrant-class Inner Flames. Not even Ba'al Agan had that honor—giving the Antigodess of Vengeance an insurmountable advantage over the other Wrathful Gods.
But though her brothers and sisters envied that unfair boon, their thoughts never traveled far because they knew their skills, bodies and souls weren't good enough to control two tyrant-class Inner Flames.
Not at 100% at least. But Menaka could. That woman could simultaneously wield two tyrant-class flames without getting overwhelmed. Displaying an affinity for Flame Manipulation that half the Wrathful Gods had still not developed.
The moment next, a pair of dark and purple flame dragons coiled up Menaka's frame, ballooning into monstrous beasts that dwarfed Nabu from the heavens. Menaka reappeared on top of her blade, looking down on Nabu.
"Who do you think Mithras got his flame talent from? Don't get obsessed with Blood Nobles. The world's strongest…will always be the Dragon race." Menaka declared, and in a masterful display of Pyromantic Unity, became one with her Inner Flames—cracking open Nabu's helmet with a straightforward stomp!
Half of Nabu's skull shattered upon impact. But as the confused god backpedaled, holding onto his only remaining eye, Menaka felt her leg go numb.
A wave of ominous feelings welled up her chest, and she reformed a couple steps away. Sargon flying out of Nabu's back and returning to her right hand.
'His Excellency's assignments are often unreasonable. Sometimes you gotta say no. Otherwise, Gramps will set you up with a smile on his face.' Nabu remembered Heruka's past advice. His broken lips curling into a sinister smile.
"Utu…Unleash Yourself," Nabu whispered, and while Menaka's ominous feelings peaked, large golden wings grew from Utu's back. Clawed limbs and stretched talons replacing his missing arms and legs as his attributes shot through the roof—bringing him to Nabu's level!
With a maniacal laugh, Utu whirled to the side, diving towards Vel'Asha!
Alas, focused on the Nirvana Secret, Vel couldn't defend herself. A battalion of Yakshini Noble formed in Utu's way, challenging the elder deity for their mistress' sake.
[Divine Strength]
Utu's divine power disintegrated them in a heartbeat, his momentum unmatched as he dropped on Vel!
"We got played. They are Veridi. Twins who share one soul and can shift consciousness. The dominant Veridi evolves and takes the Path of Tribulations while the weaker one maintains their original shape and walks the Path of Honors.
When the two reach the peak of their respective paths, they fuse back into one—attaining their Final Iteration.
Damn. The Weaver really sent us…the cream of the crop."
