"Did you get your hair permed?"
Nian Suian hadn't come home yet, and Gu Junxing had been reviewing documents in the living room while waiting for her. As soon as she walked in, he noticed the change.
Nian Suian felt a bit disappointed, "You noticed right away? I was hoping to make you guess what was different about me."
"Hmm, I not only know you got your hair permed, but I also know you got a facial treatment."
"How could you possibly guess that?!" Nian Suian had a shocked expression, thinking to herself that she only got a facial treatment today, not plastic surgery, so how could he notice any difference.
Gu Junxing pulled her to sit beside him and solved the mystery.
"Zhijing told me." Gu Zhijing had dinner outside with his friends and came home earlier than Nian Suian.
"I knew it... How do you like my new hairstyle?" Nian Suian brushed her hair forward over her chest, gesturing for Gu Junxing to look.
It had been a long time since Nian Suian had her hair done. Today she got big wavy curls, and she was quite satisfied with it. Tony, whom Jiang Yun recommended, was indeed reliable.
"Beautiful. Someone as pretty as you looks good in any hairstyle."
"Tsk tsk, Mr. Gu is getting quite smooth with his words." Gu Junxing had become quite skilled at sweet talk lately, making Nian Suian wonder if someone was coaching him.

"Not in the living room."
In their house, the living room was practically a public space. Nanny Zhang, Butler Su, and other servants could appear at any time, and Nian Suian had no interest in putting on a show.
Gu Junxing understood her meaning and immediately backed off, though he still managed to steal a quick kiss on her cheek.
"The home theater downstairs is ready. Want to watch a movie together later?"
"It's finished already? Sure!" At the mention of watching a movie, Nian Suian forgot all about Gu Junxing and immediately went to find Nanny Zhang to prepare some snacks for her to eat during the movie.
The speed at which she abandoned him made Gu Junxing both amused and exasperated.
The ever-capable Nanny Zhang immediately got to work when she heard the mistress's request.
As for Nian Suian's suggestion to "just prepare something simple," she completely ignored it.
Fruits and small cakes were a must, and Nanny Zhang also made fried chicken, grilled skewers, and braised meat.
She prepared everything in less than an hour.
"Where's Zhijing? Call him to join us." Nian Suian hadn't seen Gu Zhijing since she got home, and since Nanny Zhang had made so much food, she thought it would be nice to eat together with him.

The basement home theater was quite spacious, with a large sofa in the middle and several single chairs behind it for when friends came over.
A coffee table sat in front of the sofa, now loaded with food and drinks. Beyond that was a large screen mounted on the wall.
"Now we won't need to go to the cinema anymore, will we?" The large sofa looked much more comfortable than theater seats.
Nian Suian couldn't resist and immediately kicked off her slippers to lie down on it.
Gu Junxing asked, "What movie would you like to watch?"
"Hmm... you choose."
With her indecisiveness, it would be midnight before she could pick a movie.
Finally, Gu Junxing chose a movie neither of them had seen before - whether it would be good or not was up to luck.
Nian Suian looked at how Gu Junxing sat so formally while watching the movie and felt a bit exasperated.
"You're watching a movie, not attending a meeting. Can't you relax a bit?"
Nian Suian had been half-lying on the sofa, but since that position wasn't convenient for eating, she simply sat cross-legged on the floor, leaning against the sofa.
Meanwhile, Gu Junxing was still sitting properly on the sofa.
"Come sit down here, like me."

"The movie you picked is kind of boring." If it weren't for all the food, Nian Suian might have fallen asleep.
Nanny Zhang had been farsighted in preparing so many foods that needed picking at bones - she barely had time to look at the screen.
"Want to switch to something else?" Gu Junxing felt a bit embarrassed about randomly picking such a boring movie. If Nian Suian's entertainment was eating, his entertainment for the evening was watching her eat.
Neither of them was really watching the movie anyway.
"Whatever, changing it is fine." Gu Junxing got up and changed to a different movie, choosing a classic this time to avoid another miss.
Seeing that Nian Suian had stopped eating, Gu Junxing hadn't forgotten about the kiss he'd missed out on earlier.

Nian Suian still had gloves on her hands, all oily, and couldn't properly push him away, so she could only carefully hold her hands up and let him have his way.

Gu Junxing just looked at her and smiled without saying anything.
Nian Suian was full now, so she got up from the floor and sat on the sofa.
Before standing up, she took a few bites of cake as an emergency remedy.
Gu Junxing stood up as well.
