I showed the seagull to the clapping crowd once more.

I shrugged my shoulders with my brothers, and when our eyes met with the onlookers, we all burst into laughter.
For some reason, it was just hilarious.
Even the seagull, looking bewildered with a ‘quee?’ seemed to be proudly tucking in its beak.
We frowned deeply.
“Hey, don’t be so smug, it’s not about you.”

Trying to imitate teen spirit by furrowing our brows, the seagull wasn’t scared at all.
Instead, it looked up at us and squawked.
Bijoo sternly raised his index finger.
“Who told you to open your eyes like that? I’m weak for that kind of thing. Oh…!”
“Aaack! The seagull is biting his finger…!”
Behind him, hiding and making a fuss, Rihyuk blinked.
We did the same.
Because the seagull was gently rubbing its beak on Bijoo’s finger.
“What’s with this one?”
“Is it… trying to be cute?”

As Junghyun stroked his chin in admiration, the camera directors couldn’t help but chuckle.

We turned our embarrassed faces back to the seagull after shouting unity.
I had been carefully supporting it, but it was time to return it to the wild.
“Let’s make up now, Jiho.”
“Okay.”
The youngest showed his blood-stopped finger and said.
“Be careful next time. You.”

“If you’re not careful, I’ll introduce you to the scary guys who live downstairs.”

I said with a laugh.
“Congratulations. You’ve made a friend.”
“Indeed. A seagull gain.”
Jung-hyun fumbled in his pocket for some snacks to feed the seagull on his head.
“Oh, right.”
Then he pointed to his crossbody bag.
“Hey, there’s a Polaroid camera inside. Take a two-shot of me and the seagull.”
“Okay.”
I immediately took a Polaroid of Jung-hyun posing with the seagull.

The New Black’s SNS, where broadcasters naturally gather.
And there, the lonely HBS account manager was lurking.
After finishing the shoot at the beach.
We followed the production team, riding in a car driven by Junghyun.
“Wow.”
I couldn’t help but marvel at the smooth ride.

The theme for the first day was ‘Healing Outing.’

As the youngest one made a video call to our sisters, showing them the view and basking in their delight, I turned to Bijoo.
“We’ve been to the beach. What’s next on the schedule?”
“We’re going to see the Oreum first.”
Bijoo spread out a map of Jeju Island for us.
“We’ll start from the west and go around counterclockwise like this, hyung.”

“And on the third day, we’ll watch the sunrise at Seongsan Ilchulbong and that’s the end.”
Today’s plan was to end with a visit to Yongmeori Coast and Seogwipo City in the south.

“But it’s nice since it’s reality TV, right? Having the cameras here makes it feel like we’re resting while working.”

“Well, I’m not doing too well myself… but let’s try to rest properly this time.”
He then flashed a pleasant smile.
“It’s our first trip together, after all.”
“…”
“What’s wrong?”
We rubbed our solar plexus as we spoke.
“No, it’s just… when you say things that don’t fit your usual personality, suddenly my stomach feels queasy and slimy…”

“Ah, that was a good meal.”
It was the first day of what seemed like a trip meant just for eating.
For lunch, we had meat noodles topped with plenty of garnishes.
For an early dinner, we had grilled hairtail set meals.
And for dinner, we finished at a famous jjamppong restaurant featured on Jusehan.
“Great job everyone!”
“Are you all tired? Shall we cook some ramen together?”
As we entered the lodging with such conversations.
“Hmm?”
Wondering if there was still something left to shoot, we noticed cameras set up in the living room of the lodging.
Sitting around the sofa, patting our bellies, the PD spoke in a broadcast tone.
“Did you enjoy today’s trip?”
“Yes! It was amazing!”
“Thank you. We really ate to our heart’s content.”
The youngest member’s words made the production team recall earlier memories and give a thumbs up.
It meant respect.
“But where are we going next?”
“Do we have to do some outdoor activities? It seems like something is being prepared outside…”
Just as Rihyuk was about to mention something being constructed outside under the tarps.
The PD urgently interrupted and waved his hands.
“That’s not what’s important.”
“…?”
As we narrowed our eyes at his clumsy attempt to divert the topic.
“It feels empty just eating dinner…”

“With that in mind, our production team has divided you into two groups for two different games.”
Group one was Junghyun and Jiho.
Group two was me, Bijoo, and Rihyuk.
“If you succeed in just one of the games, we’ll give you the money.”

“Now for the first game.”
Junghyun and Jiho clapped their hands together, chanting, “Aja! Aja!” as we cheered them on.
“Let’s finish this in one go.”
“If you two win and come back, we won’t have to play, so make sure you do well, okay?”
“Junghyun, do your best.”
As they raised their hands in response, the production team unfurled a paper with the first event written on it.
[General Knowledge Quiz]
Our warm support turned cold.
“This will be over in one shot.”
“It’s times like these when your heart goes cold.”
“Oh dear…”
Junghyun and Jiho looked at each other and scratched their heads.
I clapped my hands, bolstering their spirits.
“Don’t worry! You can do it. Jiho might not know, but Junghyun is smarter than he looks.”
“This game requires both players to shout the answer simultaneously.”
“We’re doomed.”
The production team burst into laughter at my halted applause.
Meanwhile, the general knowledge quiz began.
We chose a topic and had to answer a certain number of questions correctly to pass.
The PD read from the cue card.
“This is about space, possession, and pressure. These three words summarize a soccer tactic.”
After the explanation, as Junghyun nodded, understanding it was about sports, and the youngest struggled.
“This term is also used when a conversation flows well, especially since New Black is most famous for it.”
“The most famous thing for us? That’s Universe hyung…”
“You have 10 seconds.”
“Uh…! Ah, I suddenly know it, but I can’t think, ah, that! That!”
Unable to discuss as a team, we desperately tried to signal with our eyes.
Junghyun patted the youngest on the shoulder.
“Let’s just do it. Jiho.”
“Got it! But, this is…”
They both shouted the answer simultaneously.
“Tiki-taka!”
“Pika-pika?! Ah! Tiki-takaaa!”
Jiho immediately got it wrong, and we all grimaced with a bitter smile.
The production team was laughing so hard the quiz was momentarily delayed.
The youngest fanned himself and said, “I’m not quick at thinking on my feet. I know it in my head, but with only 10 seconds…”
“It’s okay, Jiho. You can do it.”
Junghyun comforted Jiho and held out his fist.
They bumped fists, sharing encouragement, and we all cheered, “You can do it!”
“Here’s the second question. It’s really easy.”
“Really? Thank you so much!”
“Oh my.”
Jiho’s bright smile made the PD happy until they quickly returned to their duties.
It seems they didn’t yet know our youngest’s true nature.
And so, the quiz continued.
“The next question is about the Public Broadcasting Service, or PBS. What does the ‘P’ stand for in this context?”
“Public!”
“Ah! It’s Public. But I do know HBS, Hanseong Broadcasting!”
As we shook our heads in disbelief.
“…We’ve significantly lowered the difficulty of the question. You don’t need to spell it exactly, just give us a rough answer.”
“Okay!”
“What do the A and R stand for in the A&R team you face every day?”
The two of them answered.
“Artist and Repertoire.”
“Artist and… uh… oh, Repertoire…”
While Rihyuk and I were holding our heads, Bi Joo muttered with a bewildered face.
“How did Jiho even graduate middle school?”
“Seriously… But at least he’s healthy.”
“That’s right. Health is what matters most.”
Despite the production team continuously lowering the difficulty, our youngest always managed to exceed expectations.
Junghyun, who had been doing well, looked as if he was completely blocked up, especially towards the middle.
In the end, he finished with only one correct answer out of ten.
The only question the youngest got right was the spelling of ‘Masquerade.’
“But I’m the protagonist, so I have to remember that.”
“You, go stand over there with your hand raised.”
The youngest moved away dejectedly.
Thinking that we’d have to ask the manager to edit this out to some extent, the rest of us stepped forward.
“Fighting! How well you do determines our allowance!”
“Fighting!”
Their innocent cheers calmed down Rihyuk, who had veins popping on his forehead.
Taking a deep breath, we wondered what we should do next.
As we waited for the game’s content and caught our breath, the karaoke machine rolled in with a clatter.
“The second game gives each person one chance, and scoring over 90 points at least once will suffice.”
“Ah. We’re saved…”
It was too easy.
As Rihyuk breathed a sigh of relief, something crossed his mind.
“Excuse me, PD-nim.”
“Yes?”
“What happens if we score a perfect 100 on our first try?”
“Hmm, maybe a special bonus? We could do something like that, but why? You don’t think you can score 100 right away, do you?”
The PD narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
I replied with a smile.
