Chapter 184 - Desires
As soon as Lu Chen’s face magnified in her eyes, Xiu Mei subconsciously closed her eyes. His hand that rested on her waist crawled up to her back, while the other one was on the back of her head.
She was quickly engulfed with his familiar and intimate warmth. He tugged on her lips very lightly before entering her mouth. Xiu Mei felt her knees weaken, and so she desperately hung on Lu Chen’s shoulders for support. Her arms wound around his neck, making their bodies even closer.
She could feel her heart beating crazily inside her chest. She was being completely surrounded by Lu Chen that her heart and mind couldn’t help but be filled with only him.
His tongue lingered on her mouth like never before. His yearning, desire, and love drowned her in their intimate kiss.
Their kiss didn’t last long just like their previous ones. Lu Chen pulled away and pecked her on her lips. And then he rested his forehead on hers.
She stared back at him. This time, more of his emotions flashed before her. She could see the desire and pain trapped in his eyes while watching herself being reflected on it. She sensed his hidden fear through his shaky breathing.
Xiu Mei’s heart broke seeing him like this. He looked at her as if he was his treasure but the moment they got closer, he was becoming more afraid that she will suddenly be whisked away.
"Wife, I’m sorry." He murmured with his eyes closed. Their lips almost an inch away from each other.
"I’m sorry. I—"
"Mom? Dad?" Another voice came from behind them immediately breaking the somber atmosphere between the two of them. The two a.d.u.l.ts froze on the spot with the sudden appearance of the Lu Qiang.
Xiu Mei, startled and surprised by the voice, pushed away Lu Chen in reflex, creating a distance between the two of them. She turned to her right and saw the little kid in his pajamas, holding a towel over his head staring curiously at the two of them as if he was asking what the two of them were doing.
"..."
Did he... see it?
Xiu Mei swallowed nervously. God, how could she forget that they were still in Lu Qiang’s room the whole time?
And to think they acted so shamelessly while in someone’s room, gosh, how could they be so shameless and rogue like this? Ah!!!
While Xiu Mei was too busy getting embarrassed and her brain was crashing after realizing what they have just done in Lu Qiang’s, a little kid’s, room, Lu Chen was quick to return to his senses and walked right up to Lu Qiang.
"Nothing. Your mom and I were just talking. Little buddy, let’s get you to bed shall we?" He nonchalantly replied and smoothly changed the topic.
"Okay." The little bun didn’t ask anymore while his father carried him to the bed. Xiu Mei finally woke up from her inner turmoil and sat on the edge of the little kid’s bed. She rubbed his almost dry hair with the towel and tucked him in under the blanket.
Xiu Mei opened the drawer beside his bed out of habit. She picked up the storybook inside it and flipped it open. She opened her mouth to start reading it for him but no matter how many words she tried to read and speak, not a single sound came out.
She froze.
Right, she forgot that she couldn’t speak anymore.
Xiu Mei looked at the storybook with a dazed expression for a few seconds before looking away and closing the book. She raised her head and saw that the other two was acted as if they weren’t looking at her, but she knew better.
Sighing in defeat, she handed the book to her husband so that he could read it aloud in her place.
Lu Qiang saw his mother’s disappointed expression on her face. He slipped an arm out of the covers and tugged on his mother’s hand making her look at him. She flashed a tender smile on her face and she stroked his head soothingly.
Later, he finally fell asleep under his father’s storytelling.
The couple dropped a kiss on the little kid’s forehead before they left his room. After that, both of them returned to their room—rather, to Xiu Mei’s room.
"You go first." Lu Chen said.
Xiu Mei nodded while blushing. Though this wasn’t their first time sleeping together alone in this room, she still wasn’t used to it.
After she finished taking her night shower, she grabbed a book from her shelf and casually read it while sitting on the bed and leaning on the headboard. It was something she would often do to pass the time since she didn’t feel like sleeping early at all right now.
This was what Lu Chen saw as soon as he finished his shower. That picture should have looked heartwarming for anyone who would see this but Lu Chen held his breath as soon as he saw Xiu Mei’s appearance.
Xiu Mei was too engrossed with her reading that she didn’t even notice that her nightgown robe slipped off from her shoulders. Her spaghetti-strap long nightgown and white supple skin revealed itself in front of Lu Chen’s eyes. His hawk-like vision he developed while training to become an assassin saw her appearance crystal clear even if the distance between the two of them are still quite big.
Underneath the light, her pale skin looked even more enchanting under his eyes.
Lu Chen felt a fire start within her body as he kept staring at his wife. He suddenly recalled their intimate kiss an hour ago and it fueled the fire even more. He felt even hotter until that certain part of his body finally showed a reaction.
He eventually returned to his senses and gulped nervously. What was he thinking?
How could he react like a beast like that when his wife just got out of the hospital?
Lu Chen suppressed his l.u.s.t and desire with all his might. He turned towards the bathroom so he could take a shower again when Xiu Mei finally noticed his presence with such impeccable timing.
His foot that was about to take a step forward towards the bathroom paused when their eyes met. Xiu Mei finally closed the book and laid it on the bedside table, and then she grabbed her tablet again to write something.
’Are you not going to sleep yet?’ She asked. She observed his reaction.
Lu Chen sighed in defeat to his fate and walked over to her. Goddammit, why does god torture him like this? Can only look but cannot eat. Haaaah...
He slid beside her and after seeing his movements, Xiu Mei placed the table beside her bed again and laid down just like him. She turned the bedside lamp lights off and closed her eyes, unaware of her husband’s thoughts.
A few minutes later, she still couldn’t sleep despite trying to count sheep in her mind. She shifted in her sleep, in Lu Chen’s direction, and opened her eyes expecting to see his sleeping figure.
But Xiu Mei almost jumped in surprise when their gazes met. She suddenly felt as if she was caught doing something covertly by the teacher. She blinked and curiously thought why he was still awake.
"Couldn’t sleep?" Lu Chen softly asked. He reached out and stroked the side of her head.
Xiu Mei nodded.
Lu Chen contemplated for a moment and finally offered his arms. "Come here."
He scooted closer to her and dr.a.p.ed his arm around her waist and the other slipped under her head.
Xiu Mei felt her cheeks get warm but she didn’t refuse his offer. She scooted closer to his arms until her face was almost buried on her chest. Lu Chen gently stroked her back and his nose was quickly filled with her scent. He held his breath when he felt his body started getting another reaction and desperately prayed that Xiu Mei wouldn’t notice something wrong. But he forgot how keen his wife’s instincts are.
Xiu Mei felt that something was wrong with Lu Chen when she felt that Lu Chen’s body slightly turn stiff. Because her head was almost laying on his chest, she noticed that his breathing turned deeper and heavier as well.
So she couldn’t help but raise her head to meet his gaze with an inquisitive look as if she was asking what was wrong. She slightly gasped when their eyes met, and in his eyes, she could plainly see his emotions despite the darkness.
His expression looked like he was in pain or something, but before she could even ask, Lu Chen’s control snapped the moment their gazes met.
His arm that was stroking her back moved behind her head and pulled it towards him. With their lips pressed together, he shifted on his back pulling Xiu Mei’s body over his so that he was underneath her.
