Chapter 223 - Questions with No Answers
After their strenuous activity, Xiu Mei was so exhausted to even lift up a finger as she immediately sunk into the dreamland. On the other hand, Lu Chen who was still enjoying watching his wife’s sleeping face was immediately distracted by the sound from his laptop.
It took quite a bit of time for him to bypass his son’s tracker, and only after a few hours did he finally receive the location of the watch.
As soon as he saw the location of the watch based on the tracker, Lu Chen’s face dimmed as a frown appeared on his face.
He glanced at the sleeping figure on the bed.
His wife disappeared from the hotel and was found miles away from the city. But that’s weird. If she said she probably lost the watch when she was kidnapped, then why does the tracker say that it’s currently downtown? And the address belongs to one of the most vicious ruffians in the underground city. And...
Lu Chen stopped himself from speculating. He didn’t delay any longer and contacted his men to confirm the whereabouts of the watch. If it’s true that it is there, then they’ll have to investigate how the watch fell into their hands.
Two days later, the report came back. A stormy expression appeared on his face as the hunch in his heart was almost confirmed with this report.
The watch is in the hands of one of the members of the organization, TEAM. It’s one of the syndicates they are currently eyeing on. For the past decade, their movements are slowly becoming bolder with their activities. Drugs, Human Trafficking, Murder, and the Black Market.
But Lu Chen had a different reason why he was monitoring them.
The TEAM has some involvement with the death of Lu Qiang’s parents. It was what he found out after investigating for such a long time yet, they have yet to identify who was the true mastermind behind their murder.
And now, it seems that they are probably involved with his wife’s kidnapping. They already identified the person who took the watch.
Did Ying Wan Wan work with them to kidnap Xiu Mei? But that’s weird. That organization doesn’t just work with anyone, much less with a woman. Even if the Ying family was quite rich, Lu Chen believes Ying Wan Wan wouldn’t have enough funds to pay them to get their cooperation.
So that leaves him one conclusion. Ying Wan Wan is still working with someone. That person would surely have way better financial capability, at the same time, powerful enough to have the TEAM agree to work with Ying Wan Wan.
That person would have no benefit from working with Ying Wan Wan, so he or she must be using her for his benefit.
But it was a weird coincidence. For the TEAM to be linked to his cousin’s death and to his wife’s kidnapping.
The TEAM wouldn’t have any benefit attacking a person with such a prestigious family especially when they’re coming from a military family, yet they still dared to be involved with her.
Was it Xiu Su Yi? But he said that he was just a pawn.
Lu Chen got even more frustrated.
The more they dig deeper, the more questions kept adding up to his mind. Yet he still couldn’t find more helpful answers. He was still following the crumbs left from the incident and he was nearly investigating blind.
Lu Chen didn’t like that feeling one bit. Because that meant that the person they’re trying to find is definitely not weak. The person is incredibly intelligent, building a web so that they wouldn’t be able to find him or her.
His moves are tricky, and he still couldn’t identify the pattern on his movements nor his true agenda.
Lu Chen’s frown deepened as he continued his speculations.
On the other side.
"We don’t have to worry about the Ying Family’s loyalty to you." Ying Wan Wan spoke on the mobile. "No matter how much the Xiu family investigates them, they won’t open their mouths to spill my whereabouts. With the hatred that the Ying family has on them, they’d rather die than help the Xiu’s."
"Besides, they’d rather worry about their eldest son’s life at the moment. I don’t expect to see any movements from them for now so I’ll go forward with our plan." She added while swirling the red wine she was drinking from the wine glass.
"Then proceed with caution. The Lu President seems to be eyeing your movements as well. I won’t save you for the second time if he finds you again." A distorted voice replied on the other line.
"I know. But it actually seems very interesting. Who knew that bitch’s boyfriend have power enough to find me in this place. Do you want me to investigate him?" She offered. She put down the wine glass she was holding and grabbed the small knife lying beside it.
"I’m warning you. Stop making your movements outside of our agreed plan or else, I’ll be forced to put a bullet in your head before you do any damage to my plans." The person on the other line warned angrily.
Ying Wan Wan froze at his warning, as she quickly returned to her senses. Lately, her plans kept being foiled by Mr. Lu and the Xiu’s. That’s why she was getting too caught up with her hatred that she almost caused herself to be caught by the eldest Xiu days ago.
She cursed under her breath and suppressed the anger in her heart.

Ying Wan Wan threw the knife to the wall, where the sliced picture of Xiu Mei hung.
"I’ll move on to our next plan. Yu Ming Xi is also moving just like we had planned. The shipments will arrive tomorrow morning along with the drugs he ordered. I’ll have someone take care of it and send it to the address you gave me."

Xiu Mei was helping Lu Qiang with his homework during the weekends. The two of them sat in the garden with King and Lucia encircling them. The two of them have been comfortably communicating with each thru sign language, and Xiu Mei witnessed Lu Qiang’s smooth progress in learning it.
"By the way Mom," Lu Qiang looked up from his notebook to look at her. "Am I gonna have a younger sibling?"
Xiu Mei almost choked on her spit from the question.
"Can I please have a younger sister, please? Younger brothers are annoying. My friends kept complaining about their brothers back in school." Lu Qiang mumbled as he lowered his head again to continue his homework.
Xiu Mei was too speechless to reply to his request.
What was her son suddenly saying ah?!
A younger sister... where did he suddenly get this idea?!
